Flash Fiction Special Issue

We are putting together a flash horror fiction (up to 1000 word) Special Issue.

We are running a Flash Horror Fiction Competition. The competition is free to enter. 1 entry per person. Stories for the competition must be based on the cover image for the flash fiction special which is below, by the excellent Morpheus Tales artist LeMat. Only horror flash fiction up to 1000 words will be accepted for possible inclusion. The three winning entries will each be published in the Morpheus Tales Flash Fiction Special Issue, and will receive a certificate of achievement and a subscription to Morpheus Tales Magazine. Please put Flash Fiction Competition Entry in the Subject of your email and send all competition entries to: morpheustales@blueyonder.co.uk

The deadline for entries to the competition is 1st July.

The Morpheus Tales Flash Fiction Special Issue will only be available via download.

The Morpheus Tales Flash Fiction Special is also open to general horror submissions!

Please be aware we are looking for 1st online serial rights. If your work has been previously published anywhere please state this clearly.

Two submissions maximum at a time, please.

Fiction: Minimum 800 words - Maximum 3000 words.

We are looking for original, inventive fiction that bends genre boundaries. We want a new twist on the theme. Traditional stories will need to be truly brilliant to be even considered.

Artwork: For Special Issues we will be using stand-alone artwork rather than story illustrations. We will have limited space for colour artwork, and for several black and white pieces of art. If you have a completed piece ready we would be happy to see it. If you have a piece in mind we would be happy to see a sketch. 300 dpi minimum, we work from an A4 base, approx. 12 inches high and 8 wide.

Sequential Artwork: We would recommend contacting us before commencing work. We would like to see previous comic style work and a story outline.

All submissions should receive a response within two weeks. If you do not receive a response after two weeks please feel free to contact us again.

We DO NOT accept previously published work for special issues.

We DO NOT accept simultaneous submissions.

Payment is 1 complimentary copy of the issue you work appears in.
